Safeguarding Coastal Carnivores
Raincoast embarked on a crucial strategy in 2005: purchasing hunting tenures as a permanent solution to combat commercial trophy hunting and to support First Nations' stewardship in the Great Bear Rainforest. This approach is now focused on acquiring the 18,239 km2 Southern Great Bear Rainforest tenure, home to diverse wildlife populations, such as grizzlies, cougars, wolves, and Roosevelt elk. This strategic purchase exemplifies the emerging conservation economy, with over 19 ecotourism companies specializing in wildlife viewing, particularly grizzly and black bears, and coastal wolves. Rather than issue trophy hunting licences in these tenures, Raincoast further works to promote wildlife conservation and sustainable tourism.

Southern Great Bear Tenure
Raincoast works to control commercial hunting rights in over 38,000 km2 along the BC coast, an area larger than Vancouver Island.
Collaborate for a Cause
With the release of our new Café colour, we wanted to collaborate with our favourite coffee roasters in a meaningful way. Fernwood had been long supporters of Raincoast Conservation Foundation and introduced us to their incredible work. The idea to help raise proceeds for their cause was the perfect fit.
$40 of every Legacy Poncho and bag of Forest Blend bought together will go towards their Safeguarding Coastal Carnivours campaign.
